I loved this fourth and final instalment of the "Why Mummy..." series! Peter and Jane are growing up fast and no longer need Ellen like they used to, leaving her feeling lost. Ellen deals with dating, decisions to make about her career, dreaded exam time, her unchatty chickens, and driving lessons. Beneath the hilarious incidents, the book portrays a mother whose role is changing and how she deals with this.

This book had me laughing out loud in so many places (I wouldn't recommend reading it in public unless you want to attract some strange looks!). I don't have children myself but that didn't affect my enjoyment of it. In fact, it gave me a greater appreciation of what I must have put my own mum through in my teenage years. I love the diary style of these books and the way that it captures the chaos of modern family life. A brilliant book.
