I have read and enjoyed all the books in the "Why Mummy..." series and this one does not disappoint. There are a few laugh out loud scenes (including the descriptions of learning to drive with your husband or father in the car which resonated so well with me). It also has some poignant moments which keep the story grounded. I loved the ending of this one (no spoilers) and felt that it continued the tradition of these books really well. As always, the characters are very well-written and, on the whole, believable. The babysitting scenes with her friend's son were another highlight - especially with what he says to an old lady regarding Ellen's language. Peter and Jane continue to add to the chaos of Mummy's life - with many of their decisions causing mummy more chaos (along with reasons to swear and drink). If you have children, you will relate to some aspects of life in this book. It's well worth a read - but works better if you read the series in order. Highly recommended.
