Robin Wilde is a makeup artist's assistant and single mum to her beloved daughter, six-year-old Lyla. She loves her best-friend Lacey and her eccentric Auntie Kath. Unfortunately, Robin is in a dark and sad place. She is struggling with life, she feels lonely and she doesn't fit in with the posh school mum crew. She even tries online dating which doesn't go down too well. However Robin is on a mission to change her life.

I enjoyed this story and how I could relate to Robin in certain ways. I enjoyed how realistic the author has developed her main character. Robin is a flawed and insecure character who suffers from relatable concerns and worries. I also enjoyed the supporting cast of her best-friend, her auntie and the other school mum's. I also liked how nothing was sugar-coated and the author wrote about the realities of a struggling mother. In this aspect the author has written a very honest portrayal of someone who is struggling with motherhood as well as with, what Robin calls "The Emptiness". "The Emptiness" was described honestly by the author and there were parts that I could relate to. Whilst I didn't like the fact that Robin was desperate to have a man in her life, the author has clearly written the story so that Robin originally feels she needs someone in her life to feel whole and goes on a journey of self-discovery.

From the cover alone I may not have picked this up off a shelf as it doesn't intrigue me or draw me in. It was only after I'd read the series that I'd found out that the author is a popular YouTuber. Therefore the author's name is likely to have people buying this book rather than the cover art. I have no experience of the author as a YouTuber and I don't think it's at all necessary as this book is a great read. Overall I would definitely recommend this book. The writing style was natural and this was a heartfelt, light-hearted read.
