As a fan of romance novels (aka chick lit), I have come to find that just about every romance is the same. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, and all that... Once you've read one, you've read them all.
Or at least, that's what I thought until I began reading this book. 'Wilde Like Me' starts very nicely - clearly a romance from its beautiful setting and description of the main characters clothing, yet not in a way that is at all cheesy. I was immediately hooked, not just by the promise of several mushy scenes, but by the believable character. So many of the chick lit genre these days are far too chirpy, quirky, sex-driven (excuse my prudishness) and obsessed with marriage, however Robin Wilde feels real, with a personality that is much more down to earth and a life that just about every reader can sympathise with in some way or other. This, combined with the not-too-conversational yet not too formal tone (we've all read the extremes) promise for a very enjoyable read.
I would recommend 'Wilde Like Me' to any fan of the romance genre. I, for one, loved it!
