I'm going to start off by saying the writing in this novel is not perfect. The sentences sometimes seem to be jumbled and confusing and could easily be fixed by changing a few words around. However, once you get past that the characters are easy to fall in love with. Robin herself is a typical 20th century woman struggling to be liked by the other 'perfect mums' in the playground. She feels the need to fabricate parts of her life with her daughter which really made me laugh - like pretending Lyla loved horse riding to a colleague whose son hated horse riding (bonding session failed). Much like Rebecca Bloomwood of the Shopaholic series Robin is relatable and loving and a complete ditz and I am excited to read more about her in the future.
