Told with a great deal of humour, this story follows Ross's story as he battles eye cancer - that bit we already know from the publisher's blurb. What it doesn't tell you is how funny it is. Although, I couldn't help but think that beneath all the levity is a true vein of fear. Whilst I can see that this is aimed at a readership that maybe are going through cancer treatment themselves or have a friend or relative going through it it just feels all a little bit facile at the moment - I would have liked more of the fear to come through, validate that it is okay to be scared witless (like being a french fry constantly being dunked in hot oil). Maybe that develops as the book progresses.
