This is a fantastic book, truthful, heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time.
It reminded me very much of Wonder, but it is so much more as well. The main character is instantly likeable, and you really find yourself rooting for him throughout the book. The other characters are nicely rounded and all add an extra dimension to the story.
Personally I wasn't a huge fan of the cartoons throughout, but then I'm much older than the YA intended audience, so that's probably to be expected. In the end I just skipped over them, and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book at all.
I think my daughter would thoroughly enjoy this book, and I shall be passing my copy onto her. Thanks to Readers First for my advance copy.
