I knew as soon as I read the first look of this book that I was going to love it, so I was super excited to win a copy. This book is just amazing and everyone needs to go read it right now! It is a great mix of real and humour. It is an insanely powerful story about a young boy dealing with cancer.
The best thing about this book is its real and feels real. The book is based on the authors own experiences with a rare type of eye cancer. This is a middle grade book that can be read by anyone, the addition of illustrations and the Batpig comics make it more fun and lighten the difficult topics.
Being twelve is a hard time anyway, you are still a kid but not quite willing to admit that and a lot of changes are happening in life. So throw in a life threatening illness into that mix would be an actual nightmare.
This book shows the side affects of cancer both physical and mental. It shows how frustating it can get and that an outlet is needed so you don't bottle up your feelings.
