This story about a young boy named Ross centres around his cancer diagnosis. It shows how children can be strong in times of adversity and in places it really pulls on your heart strings. Ross has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment with the prospect of losing his vision in both eyes. Not only that but he has to cope with general life as a youngster at school which is made all the more difficult as he has to wear a hat to protect him. He finds joy in a new hobby and it really helps him through the dark days. I love the way the book is written in that you feel sorry for Ross but you also feel happy for him for being strong and being able to get on with life as best he can. One read that will stick with me for the future.
