This book is off to a great start. It's rare to see YA books tackle the topic of teen parenting and so far this book is managing to do so in a way that doesn't villanise the mother. Our protagonist is likeable and layered. The relationships introduced so far are compelling and it's nice to see her Abuela supporting her. The writing style is digestible and easy to read. However, I have given it 4 stars as not much of a storyline has been introduced yet. I am definitely interested to read more of this book (though not on an empty stomach with all the delicious sounding food mentioned).
