I love a good contemporary and this seems meatier than most! I love when books tackle sensitive subjects and help young women to know that you can always find a positive in a situation. I was hooked from the first page, Emoni’s voice is heartwarming and inviting.
The cover is gorgeous and the design is eye catching and having the character on the front really helps me to imagine Emoni and how she takes life by the horns and runs with it. I really enjoyed The Poet X and I’m excited to see what Acevedo has created!
The recipes really add to the feel of the book as well, I love how this brings us closer to Emoni’s dream!
