This book was such a beautiful comfort read! The food, the relationships, and the stunning scenery-- it absolutely transported me into Emoni's world✨ (and made me extremely hungry.. 🤤). Books about food really are the way to my heart 💖

I loved Emoni's relationship with her family, especially her Grandmother, and her conversations with her best friend, Angelica, had me cracking up. It was great to see a character being so passionate about her cooking and honesty it inspired me a lot too!

Although I didn't find the book to be as powerful as The Poet X, (and I thought the romance had been a little unnecessary), I did enjoy my time whilst reading this novel, and I could definitely relate to a lot of Emoni's struggles and insecurities.

Elizabeth Acevedo has a wonderful way with words and I'm looking forward to reading more of her works in the future, whether it be in verse or in prose :)
