This was a really fun and refreshing read. It deals with subjects that are sometimes seen as a social taboo, such as being a teen parent, but is also quite wholesome, exploring the main character's love of cooking, and a romance between her and the new boy at school. We follow Emoni, who's trying to navigate being a teen mom during her senior year, whilst balancing her academic life, personal hobby of cooking and occasionally difficult family dynamics.

Acevedo is a very talented writer (having also read The Poet X, I was looking forward to reading her writing again), and this book is no exception. If you're looking for a fix of YA contemporary, I would 100% recommend this.

The only reason this wasn't a 5 star for me is because I'm not much of a YA reader when it comes to contemporary novels. I would actually say my rating is more like a 4.5/5 stars.
