An excellent read which I thoroughly enjoyed in this dreary cold December month. It warmed me up so much following Emoni on her journey through school and life choices.

Being 17 and having a two-year old while still being at school is one of the challenges she faces when dreaming of becoming a chef.

I loved the mouth-watering recipes throughout and the female power vibes. The romance is also extremely nice and it was just the perfect book to pick up to lift my spirits.

Elizabeth Acevedo’s writing style is amazing and I would give 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to this novel. She has this ability to tackle really serious issues (teenage pregnancy, grief, life struggles, racism to name a few) and yet not make you despair but rather cheer you up about what is important in life.
I’m looking forward to reading her other novel The Poet soon.

Pick this up if you want some culinary inspiration, a gorgeous romance and feminist vibes !
