Before I start – how GORGEOUS is this cover? I’m in love! I know we shouldn’t judge books by their covers but how can you not when it looks this good?!
It was a fast read, a coming of age story about a teenage mum and cooking enthusiast Emoni as she begins working towards realizing her dreams. There was also a love story woven in which I really appreciated.
I liked the fact the book showed Emoni as a young mother but it wasn’t the focus of the book. Acevedo does an amazing job of making the characters come to life, each one was so well written. The dynamic between Emoni, her daughter Emma and her Grandmother is wonderful to see and I loved watching their relationship unfold.
If you’re looking for a heart warming YA novel then I highly recommend this one, it has so much heart!
