After reading some of this authors other books, I wanted to give with the fire on high a shot. I am so glad I did!!!! This novel is beautiful, well written and deals with some important topics. It deals with how one might struggle during high school and the other responsibilities people have to also deal with. The topic of motherhood and coming of age were beautifully told and very important to hear about. Emoni is a talented, strong woman who has to juggle multiple different things and commitments while deciding what she wants her future to be like. The characters used in this book are well thought out and developed and this makes the book so much more enjoyable. I loved the theme of cooking and baking in this book as that is one of my favourite hobbies to do. This book will grip you from the first chapter and encourage you to read on. Go pick this book up!
