Emoni is a seventeen year old single mum trying to balance looking after her daughter Emma, going to school and a part time job while being pressured to decide what to do with her future. All she knows is that she has a talent for cooking, a talent that those around her would call 'magic'. When the school opens a new class in culinary arts, Emoni finds it hard to stick to the rules and begins to wonder whether learning to a chef is really for her.
Well this book certainly left me wanting to get into the kitchen. It is told from the point of view of Emoni and takes us through her final year of school.
I loved this story and the character of Emoni. I would have maybe liked to have heard more of Pretty Leslie's back story though but thats just personal intrigue. A lovely story.
