This book! This book made me feel such unadulterated emotion it's hard to put into words why!
Is it completely different to Acevedo's first book Poet X yes! Is it any less marvellous in my opinion not at all.
Emoni is a teen Mum,Her desire to build a better life for her daughter shines brightly in this wonderful storyline.
She loves to cook and dreams of a career in the catering industry. Clearly talented and with so much passion she deals with her struggles by creating wonderful food that just reading about made my mouth water.
I have no shame in saying that this book made me super emotional in many places throughout the plot. I think Emoni is one of my favourite ever fictional characters just because of her warmth and how she made me feel. I found her even as an adult so relatable and emotive and really feel like she's a character you naturally root for.
I'm always super cynical about romance in books like this but Malachi is such a dream I literally wanted them to sail off into the sunset together.
Overall I read this really quickly in just over 24 hrs because it's such a beautiful read. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
