The first thing that you notice about this book is the beautiful cover, it really depicts the essence of the book. Emoni is seventeen, a mother of a two year old and still at school, life is a struggle, but she tries to do everything and get on with her school work. Emoni has a dream and that is to become a chef, when she gets in the kitchen and begins cooking something magical happens and her dishes are always amazing. At school she joins a culinary arts class and is able to put her skills into practice, but has to learn too that she cannot always cook just the way she wants to and has to follow rules. Her studies take her to Spain were she is able to put her skills into practice and she begins to realise what she really wants out of life.
This is a beautifully written novel, which really draws the reader in and you find yourself really rooting for Emoni. The delicious sounding food in the book is sure to make you feel hungry! I really enjoyed this, it is a perfect read for anyone who like reading about food and cooking.
