With The Fire On High follows Emoni as she struggles to balance her life as a high school student and young mother whilst trying to make ends meet.
I love reading books with strong characters and Emoni did not disappoint.
The author explores lots of important topics including the stigma of teenage pregnancy, single parenthood, race and identity. And gives an honest and positive representative of marginalised identities.
The characters are very well written and have you rooting for the protagonist.
The book is more character driven than plot driven and it is that along with the excellent writing style and the short snappy chapters that make this book impossible to put down.
