Loved this book and all of the new perspective that it gave. It was a new storyline from a point of view that we very rarely see. It is the story of a young black half Hispanic girl who loves cooking, trying to graduate high school and all the while she has a daughter under the aged of three. It has a tv show style feel to it as all the chapters are so small and problems come up that are very quickly solved. There is a romantic relationship being developed through the book but it isn’t the main focus which is what I love about the book. Her life is more about her career and her child and not her relationship. Lots of great topics explored in this book that are very realistic but very rarely shown in stories
