After seeing and hearing so much about this book, I really wanted to read it and see for myself. It took me a while to get into it and started off quite slowly, but by the end I was reading it greedily!
This is the story of a young woman who is a very talented chef, and the journey she goes on to follow her dreams whilst also balancing being a young mother. The character development was exquisite and I feel in love with all of them, even Pretty Leslie.
A book always stays with me when there are places in it that, as a result, I want to visit. This book absolutely does that and I have already pitched my ideas to my husband (I won't spoil the story by talking about where, but anyone who reads this will know).
Elizabeth Acevedo is incredibly talented and I very much look forward to reading her next book which is due out this year.
