The style of the book is very real, with real people living real lives, chatting on the bus with their friends. Everybody knows someone like Emoni who maybe doesn't start out life the "right" way but you will her on to have a fabulous life with all her dreams becoming a reality. I would love to know more about her, she sounds such a strong woman with a strong family ethic and family providing the support system to help her work, study and still be a mother to her baby girl.
It will be interesting to see if cooking ends up being an escape route out of the background she knows and has been brought up with or whether it ends up binding her to family and the area and background she has known all her life.
