The book is very well-written and the pacing was great. There was never a dull moment and it felt as if every scene was important as it helped to develop Emoni's character. It also looked at the realities of being a teenage mum and I liked how I could empathise with Emoni. It was also great to read a book about those of colour as you don't see that often in books. In fact, most of the characters are people of colour and important themes were dealt with in the book, such as Emoni's feeling of constantly having to explain where she was from. Or why she can only speak a little Spanish. As I am from two different ethnic backgrounds, I felt that I could relate to her a lot as I have been through the same thing. Overall, I do recommend this book to others.
