I loved Acevedo's previous book so I maybe had huge expectations from this one as well. And to be honest, i was not extremely disappointed, it is just that I wanted more: more romance, more emotion, more drama, more everything.
The story was just a normal YA story, easy to read and easier to forget. I loved the idea of the recipes for every part of the book. I even saved some so I can try them as soon as possible.
My favourite thing about the book was the cover. It is a masterpiece, it looks amazing and immediately attracts your attention. As a librarian in a school, I have noticed how much impact a beautiful cover has on the decision of my students to borrow or not borrow a book, be it fiction or non fiction, popular or not so well known.
I would recommend to Acevedo's fans but I am still waiting for her future books and I hope they will be as good as Poet X.
