The book is about Emoni Santiago, a teen mum in her senior year at high school, who is extremely passionate for cooking sincer she has been doing it from a young age ( I don’t see a lot of passion like this in YA books) and is trying to figure out her path.

This book was more importantly about family roots and culture and relationships in all aspects of Emoni’s lifec, which all felt alive and complex to me!The chapters revealed little insights into what life as a teenage mum is like.

This book was full with love, recipes and flavour. I loved the ending and “quietness” of the book as it felt realistic whilst also being a bit complicated as well as messy at some bits. It was a really fantastic sophomore novel which deserves all of the hype that it’s been getting! However, I do feel like some parts of it have been rushed but they haven’t impacted the story at all!
