Where do I begin? I absolutely loved this book!
The beautiful cover drew me in right from the beginning (I read a lot of crime books which all seem to be blue and look the same), it centred around food (you cannot go wrong there) and overall the story was uplifting.
The story is about a 17 year old girl called Emoni. Emoni works, attends college and has a two year old daughter! Throughout the story you see Emoni struggle to balance all these different aspects of her life- making the story totally relatable, but her talent to cook and passion to be a chef is inspiring.
I flew through this book! I was gripped right from page one and I found it a light read!
Overall a fantastic read and and I agree with the quote on the blurb from New York Times- this book is ‘literary soul food’
