I really enjoyed reading this book. The descriptions of the food and cooking were wonderfully vibrant. Emoni was a lovely character and I loved the relationship she had with her Buela. There are other interesting family dynamics that bubble under the surface as well. Babygirl was so cute and it was interesting to read about a teenage girl having a baby through school. I loved the culinary arts programme and the trip to Spain. The food cooked seemed mouth watering and kept making me want to go and cook. There were issues about fathers and raising children brought up which was very interesting to read. The writing style flowed easily and I enjoyed the recipes that were written at the start of certain parts of the book.
