I'd heard about this book from a friend who insisted that I read it and lucky for me, I found it here on readers first! Just from reading the few pages I could tell that this was something I would want to continue reading. I've never read books about teenage mums and the struggle of pregnancy at such a young age but I feel like this has already set the right foundations in place.

Also, her passion for cooking and wanting to become a chef is also new to me, especially in books. Emoni's love for Emma and 'buela makes me feel so warm and despite being written in prose, I can still empathise with Emoni. Usually, I find that prose can be super boring and unecessary (especially when you can write in third person, which is immensly helpful with world-building) however, I feel that this book is perfect in prose and the author has done well to capture Emoni's nervousness, love and so many other emotions that she's experiencing.
I'm excited to see her character grow and develop when I get to read the whole book.
