The book 'with the fire on high' by Elizabeth Acevedo is a beautiful told story about a young pregnant girl during high school and how she as a teenager copes with being pregnant and giving birth and looking after a young baby throughout high school. The book talks about the difficulties of trying to enrole babies into nurseries with the long waiting lists as well as the cost of this and how she has to work extra hours during the week and weekends to keep up with the cost of a baby as well as trying to balance school life.
The book is an easy read as the words just flow off the pages and isn't difficult to understand. I would recommend it for all young adults.
The book even includes amazing recipes to make and try with lemons at the start of the book that you might not have tried or heard of before.
This book was a really enjoyable read and I will be adding the rest of her books to my list!
