At the back end of 2020, Elizabeth Acevedo quickly became one of my favourite authors. This was the first book I read by her and it prompted me to continue to read her entire backlist and love every single one of them.
It was such a lovely coming of age story and i fell head over heels for every single character- they were all just so likeable! The little added details for example with the recipes were amazing and just added a special little something extra.
This si such an easy read and it is one of those books thta you can sit and read in one day. It tackles hard topics such as being a young mother and losing your parents but in a really accessible way. I think this would be such a good book for young people to have access to in schools.
