This is the third book that I read by Elizabeth Acevedo and she is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors!
I believe this is the only one so far that she hasn’t written in verse but it is as good as the rest!
I liked the main character Emoni, the struggles she had to go through, the situation she was in, how she followed her dreams, how she fought for her daughter and for what she really wanted, how talented and brave she was... She is such a remarkable character!
I also liked her relationship with her ‘Buela! It was hard but cute and lovely and there were moments, scenes and situations that warmed my heart and I loved it!
I enjoyed very much the writing style! The chapters, which are not numbered but titled, were rather short and it was very easy and quick to read!
With all that being said, I will definitely be reading any new book Acevedo writes!
