As Mark Billingham says 'a cracking debut'
It has taken me some time to get around reading Without Trace as I had already read the sequel 'Kill Me Twice' and didn't particularly enjoy it.
However, Without Trace, is a much better book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys detective/thrillers with a feisty, female, journalist lead.
The story is set in Dungeness and the Kent coastal towns and is about single mum, Morgan Vine, and her childhood friend, Danny Kilcannon who has recently been acquitted after serving four years in prison for murdering his stepdaughter. Danny's wife is also missing.
There is some great dialogue between Morgan and her 18 year old daughter, Lissa, who are both strong, independent characters.
Perhaps I'd have enjoyed Kill Me Twice more if I'd read them in the correct order?
