A horrific murder, a mysterious woman and another complex case for DS Cody.
Sara, Mathew's estranged wife finds him tortured and brutally murdered, but Sara does not show any of the usual emotions when talking to the police. Nor does she wait for the police to find those responsible for killing Mathew who was a civil servant collecting taxes.
This poses a number of problem for DS Cody just back from the injuries he suffered in his last case and for whom life has taken a drastic turn as he is ordered to attend compulsory sessions with a psychiatrist or face dismissal from the force. Cody who has his own demons from the past finds himself haunted by this new case, by Sara's actions and by the fear that he may be found unfit for duty.
All of this leads to Cody facing one of his most difficult cases from the side lines as the rest of the team investigate Mathew's murder.
