The novel takes off when protagonist Sara Prior finds her husband murdered. We follow her and the police as they try to figure out why her seemingly shy and reserved husband would be killed in such a barbaric fashion. I thought the first look was well written and Sara to be an interesting lead. Not all is what it seems, and it would be interesting to find out what skeletons she has in her closet. Sadly, I did find the portions with the police to be a little cliche, and I didn't connect at all with the main detective.
