It's hard to review this book as it was a bit all over the place. Some bits seemed to drag where they could be shorter, others were condensed down when they could have been made better by being longer.
It was an enjoyable read most of the way through, though something happened (I always try and avoid spoilers in my reviews, forgive me) about half way through that was so unbelievable and unrealistic that I almost had to persuade myself to pick the book back up.
There's obviously a "long game" plan for these books and characters, and whilst some of it seemed like the kind of interactions people would actually have, other kinds seemed rather the opposite, with no clear definition to the character, which is frustrating when you're trying to get to know them.
The "big reveal" as it were - as there always is in a thriller - was so underplayed that it was beyond subtle, and it was rather disappointing. It would have been nice for the climax of the book to actually feel climatic, rather than just the after thought of explanation that it actually seemed to be.
