Another page-turner from David Jackson
"Your Deepest Fear" is the fourth book in the Nathan Cody series by David Jackson. I have read and very much enjoyed the previous three. As with the others, this novel can also be read as a standalone.
There are two major stories in this novel: one is about solving the grisly torture and murder of Matthew Prior, and the other concerns DS Nathan Cody's torment resulting from a previous under-cover operation. Both are well told. There doesn't seem to be as much humour as in the previous books (although the scene in Walgrave & Palmer is brilliant, and very amusing), but there is action and tension aplenty. This is a well-written novel: gruesome in parts, but very enjoyable nonetheless. A real page turner, which I couldn't put down.
About half way through the book, I had convinced myself that this would be the final one in the series, but I was surprised and pleased to find that there is plenty more of Nathan's story to be told. I look forward to book five.
