David Jackson's thriller is only what can be described as gripping. It is a suffocating journey for the protagonist as he literally comes to terms with this deepest fears, hence the title of the book, and his ability to use this own judgements during a murder case are brought into question. Jackson's writing is always of a high standard, and helps to make this dark and psychological thriller flow well from start to finish. It is also a good introduction to the author's work if you have not read anything by him before, as it is a stand alone novel that tells you everything you need to know in a vacuum. It is thrilling, emotional, dark, disturbing, and everything that you would expect from a well written thriller. It is recommended to anyone interest in this genre of novel.
