This book was actually quite well written but it just didn’t do it for me.

When I first started reading this, I didn’t realise it was the fourth book in a series about the same policeman. Perhaps this lack of context was why I just couldn’t get into the novel. It was a decent premise and a good start but I did feel a bit lost in places and a bit bored in others, by the ‘policing stuff’. I’m not sure how realistic it was either, there were certainly passages throughout that didn’t seem entirely believable.

In truth though, my main problem with this novel was that I never gelled with the character of Sara. She just seemed to be able to justify everything she did. Be it bad or good, she just didn’t seem to hold herself responsible for any of her actions. Think I’d only read the rest of the series if I were struggling to find something else
