A nice book about a girl, Hildy and a boy, Paul, who have agreed to take part in a psychology study to see if love can be engineered between two strangers.
From the off, Paul aka Bob admits he's in for the $40 dollars he will be paid on completion. Hildy, aka Betty is in it primarily because she's interested in the psychology side of it, but it's also an escape from her current home life.
They have 36 questions to ask each other, but also to answer themselves. In between the conversations, we see some of Hildy's home life and why she needs the diversion. Her parents are warring with each other in a simmering warfare and her little brother who has hit puberty seems to bearing the brunt of it.
All these issues are tackled as the book answers the questions they ask each other and more.
