Interesting Concept

I love the concept of this book, and I think that's what drew me in immediately to the book as a whole. The idea that two people can sit down, ask each other a specific 36 questions, and know each other intimately because of those exact questions is kind of crazy sounding, but I can believe it might work to foster romantic relationships. I almost want to try it myself! However, the writing style is not exactly phenomenal. The dialogue, especially, can sound too choppy and be a wasteful overuse of "yeahs" and "ums" and so forth, which, while sounding a lot like how people truly talk, does not help us get to know the characters more and, in fact, makes them a little more stereotypical than I would like. Plus, the heavy reliance on dialogue alone is a turn off, because it makes it harder for me to see a complete picture and it's a cop-out on the writer's part because it becomes blatantly obvious that they don't like writing scene and so they've structured this in such a way as to avoid that and stick with what's easy for them. This writer will never stretch themselves doing that and this will end up being their only decent book because of that. That being said, it really doesn't stop me from dying to know where the story goes from here, especially because I've been launched right into the plot from the very beginning. I'm really looking forward to reading more soon.
