Oh, Vicki Grant. I've never read your books, but now I am going to have to.

I was intrigued by the set up of what I assumed would be another meet-cute bubble-gum YA contemporary romance: two strangers sign up to participate in a psych study whose aim is to make the test subject fall for each other.

Even though I knew what the ending would probably be, I was kinda taken in by that. I'd never seen anything like it before in contemporary YA-- it was just different enough to hook me.

But, Vicki Grant. You didn't stop at the sweet set-up. You also wrote characters that might have seemed archetypical (bad boy, good girl), and you gave them depth. You gave them both complicated, rich family lives. You even gave the narrating girl friends that were good to her, but still annoying: LIKE MOST FRIENDS THAT AGE ARE.

You, Vicki Grant, are a stellar story teller. I am so glad I read this book. I devoured it in a couple of days. If you are in the mood for a romantic tale with unexpected hidden depths and two people you are going to root for... read "36 Questions That Changed My Mind About You."
