Unexpectedly gripping opening for a political thriller.

I have read a number of Anne Holt novels but none is the Selma Falck series and all of which have been crime thrillers. I had reservations about a political thriller and I thought the premise sounded quite heavy-going with the potential to be a complex and laborious read. However the opening extract was surprisingly gripping and much more to the point and incisive than I had expected. On the basis of that and my previous experience with Anne Holt’s novels I am keen to read, even more so as Selma sounds like quite a colourful character!
