Selma Fleck, a former high-powered lawyer turned private investigator, and some what a celebrity, is shot in a sniper attack, an attack in which one of her best friends, Linda, is tragically killed.
The police and media assume that Selma was the prime target, but then two other people with links to Linda, are found dead in suspicious circumstances.
Selma sets out to avenge her oldest friend's death, and discover the truth behind the other murders.

A memory for murder is the third installment in the Selma Fleck series. That said, it is a book that can be read without having read the previous two.
Overall, I thought the book was very good. The first two chapters certainly draw you in. Though, admittedly I did struggle in parts after that to get into the story, not because it's badly written; on the contrary, the writing is super; I just found with all the different character names, and the technical side of the police work and the political organisation, I read those parts but didn't always absorb them.
That said, I did follow the plot easily enough and when the storylines wove together, I understood perfectly well how they were all linked.
I liked the character of Selma; although she is battling her own demons, she never gives up when it comes to getting the truth behind her friend's death; she looks after her friend Einar, who is quite literally stark raving mad, and her love for her grandson sees her stand her ground so that she can have a relationship with him.

If you a fan of Norwegian crime fiction, I would recommend getting ypur peepers stuck into this one.
