Well, I took a bit against the book when I read the 'Bosnian proverb' quoted at the very start. It's actually an ancient saying from the book of Hosea (8:7), 'They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind'. It's a shame to see linguistic heritage being lost, but hey ho. OK, I'm a pedant, but I gave the extract a fair crack, and have to give the author her due - she's a very skilful story teller, setting up the mystery/thriller very well in the opening scenes. And I love the Swedish setting - but then I'm a Scandiphile who's studied Swedish and lived in Gothenburg and Östersund - many years ago. Not being a great crime novel aficionado, I probably won't read the whole book, but I suspect it's a good read.
