This book surrounded me. It was a slow burner but I think that was a deliberate action to signify the pace of the investigations.
Set in a small town of Ormberg, Sweden. A population or merely 100 residents.
A group of teenagers go to a cairn drinking and smoking before Malin, excused herself to a call of nature, where she then finds a child’s skull.
Years later Malin is a cop and it working with a small team investigating that very case - it had been shelved as it wasn’t resolved at the time.
Peter and Hanne, an older couple working with the police on this cold case go missing. Hanne is found, Peter isn’t. It becomes very apparent that Hanne suffers with Dementia and has no short term memory.
The novel unravels trying to solve both mysteries, and leave the reader questioning do we really know everything we think we do?
