A classic small town crime story with a twist!
I've always been a fan of stories where the big city cop returns to their sleepy hometown to solve a mystery and this book delivered that and more.
The central characters in this Scandi-noir novel are each unique and allow the reader to experience the story from various angles. Hanne & Peters narratives were especially compelling. The constant switching between protagonists kept the prose flowing and added an extra layer of intrigue.
The descriptions of Ormberg, the central location for the book, were atmospheric and really gave you a feel for this industrial backwater; if a little repetitive.
The final chapters of the story were action packed and filled with twist after twist! Despite having read extensively in this genre myself I couldn't have guessed the finale!
