The first impression is incredibly detailed and I found it difficult to follow as so many characters were introduced in the first few pages. I love historical fiction, but this isn't a book I would reach for as it seems quite heavy. The cover and title both match the impression of the story. I would be tempted to pick this book up, but after reading the blurb this isn't my cup of tea.
