Surprisingly readable and coherent!

Although I do enjoy historical fiction, I have only ever read novels dating from Victorian times up to the post-war eras and have tended to write off the earlier periods as too heavy going for my liking. Given these are periods that I know little about I immediately pass them by, so when the premise of this novel sounded interesting enough I gave the FI a read and was surprised to find it very readable and coherent. I was neither confused or bored and although people have been recommending this author to me for the last few years, it has taken reading his prose to convince me that maybe they have a point!

I would therefore be keen to try this novel and see the challengers for the role of Alexander the Great fight this one out to the death!
