I found the story although extremely interesting a bit convoluted. But as for political intrigue - YES.
I couldn't help but draw lines to today's shenanigans in this country without the blood lust.
The similarity of some of the character names confused me at times and I found myself re - reading parts to clarify which person was presented.
As a historical novel it was absorbing and at times a bit of an eye opener as to who did what to whom. Allowing for this in this regard it was a very good read.
Having read Robert Fabbri previously I always find I feel a profound sense of satisfaction as I close the book at the end.
Then an added bonus comes with the realization of this saga continuing in the coming The Three Paradises.....can't wait
